Basic Military Training (BMT) is conducted at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas, known as the Gateway to the Air Force. All Air Force BMT is conducted here.
Training approximately 35,000 recruits each year is an enormous task. Ten squadrons accomplish this mission. Eight of these squadrons train active duty Air Force, Space Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve recruits in the fundamentals of being an Airman. This includes military discipline, drill and ceremonies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and a comprehensive range of subjects relating to Air Force life.
