Posted 10/30/2009 Printable Fact Sheet

To our new Air Force Family Members,

Greetings from Lackland Air Force Base, the Gateway to the Air Force! On behalf of the entire United States Air Force, we welcome you as a new member of our extended Air Force family.

Thank you for sending your family member to the ranks of the world's greatest air, space and cyberspace force. We invite you to come to Lackland Air Force Base and celebrate as your Airman graduates from Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) and bear witness to the miraculous transformation of ordinary American citizens to extraordinary Airman, ready to serve our grateful nation in the United States Air Force.

As you know, Airmen will go through many challenges over the course of the next eight weeks in BMT. We take great pride in the accomplishments of America's Warrior-Airmen as they prepare to serve our country and hope you'll join us to celebrate this milestone in their life. Graduation events are scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays.

We look forward to assisting you in any way we can and strongly encourage you to visit our website which contains a wealth of information (http://www.basictraining.af.mil).

Additionally, you may visit the Lackland Services (http://www.lacklandservices.com), the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau (http://www.visitsanantonio.com) or the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce (http:/www.sachamber.org) websites for information regarding on- and off-base activities that you and your family can share with your Airman.

Due to heightened security measures, all visitors to Lackland AFB must be properly cleared before they are allowed on base. Please be aware that security personnel will conduct criminal background checks on everyone over the age of 18 who DOES NOT currently possess a valid DoD ID card (CAC or retired military ID).

If you have any questions, please check our website (http://www.basictraining.af.mil) or feel free to contact the BMT Reception Center at (210) 671-3069. We hope you enjoy our site.
