Colonel Jason Corrothers is the Commander, 737th Training Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.  He commands the Air Force's only Basic Military Training organization, comprised of nine squadrons, more than 700 permanent party personnel and a daily student population averaging 6,000.  The group conducts all aspects of Air Force enlisted recruit training and ensures the orderly transition from civilian to military life for approximately 38,000 Active-duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve non-prior service accessions annually.  He is responsible for $16 million in budget authority and an infrastructure worth $700 million to execute all aspects of Basic Military Training to include personnel processing, curriculum development, scheduling, job classification, resource management, supervision, and the professional development of permanent party staff, to include Military Training Instructors

 

Prior to commanding Basic Military Training, Colonel Corrothers was the Director of Budget, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As the Commander's budget lead, he was responsible for the financial planning and fiscal execution of the Air Force's research, development, test, acquisition, and sustainment programs totaling over $31B annually. He served as a primary Financial Advisor to the AFMC Commander, and as such, was responsible for command policies regarding CFO Act compliance that served as the basis for direction to over 3,000 financial management professionals, providing vital services and support to the command's units worldwide including 10 major bases.

 

Colonel Corrothers entered active duty after commissioning through Officer Training School in January of 1996. He is a former squadron commander that has served at every level of the Air Force, including multiple joint deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Joint Improvised Explosive Defeat Organization. In addition to his depth of experience as a Comptroller, he is also a former Congressional liaison, Senior Military Assistant to the Air Force Assistant Secretary for Financial Management, and assignments officer.  Colonel Corrothers is married to Major Heather Corrothers, Air Force Judge Advocate.
